Majlis Berbedak Fadzillah Alias | Lawas Wedding Photography
Date | 21st February 2015
Ceremony | Kampung Karangan, Lawas

Thanks to Joel Ating for giving me the opportunity to shoot Fadzillah’s Majlis Berbedak (powdering ceremony). A new experience for me because I never attended or shoot a Majlis Berbedak before.
The Majlis Berbedak is a Brunei Malay Wedding custom. The bride and groom will conduct their Majlis Berbedak seperately, Fadzillah’s family invited their friends and families as far from Brunei to bless her wedding and anoint with ointment made from coloured rice flour and scented oil.
Fadzillah was dressed up in the traditional Berbedak attire and had on heavy brass headgear that has dragon on both sides of it and is wrapped around with scented flowers.
And let’s begin with some details…
While she was still getting ready and dressing up, the crowds in the hall starts to recite Al-Quran verses…
Final touch ups before she march into the hall for the ceremony…
Here comes the bride…
Majlis Berbedak begins with blessings from Fadzilla’s parents…
Group Portraits with family and friends…
And finally, a photo of me with the bride…
